False Claims Act - Qui Tam
The False Claims Act allows private persons to file suit for violations of the False Claims Act on behalf of the government, known as a qui tam action. Any person may bring a qui tam civil action "for the person and for the United States Government" against an entity who defrauds the Government. The False Claims Act has been highly effective in combating fraud and abuse in Medicare and government contracts including contracts for defense, energy, construction, housing, natural disaster recovery, and other forms of government procurement. Attorneys at Burr & Smith are experienced in handling claims under the False Claims Act.
